CorelDraw v X3 / PhotoPaint v X3 / Adobe Illustrator v CS 2
Casemate v 6.5 / PrintCut 5.9 / Flexi-Cut 6.0 / Adobe Photoshop CS 2
Adobe Acrobat v 7 pro ( for dwg's only/ prefered over faxed dwg's)
We also accept SolidWorks files (SolidWorks Viewer 2001 / for dwg's only)
& Others
And we accept many different exports from most popular professional programs, please contact us as to how you may supply them.
We accept 100% vector based graphic files (draw, illustrator or cad) for making films. Raster files (bitmaps, scans, photo files, or paint files) will only be accepted under certain conditions, please contact us before sending. Please note: raster images imbedded into a vector based program are not considered a 100% vector file.
We highly recommend the following suggestions be followed for best results.
"your cooperation in folowing the information below is the key to a smooth trouble free order. We believe the end results will justify the means & quality will then prevail" Scott 9/01
The electronic file should include:
a.) Include graphics and text to be printed, but please remove or purge all unnecessary objects, layers & etc. not relevant to printing (i.e. drawing boarders, other view angles, & etc.). Please see the notes below regarding fonts unless they have been coverted to graphics or there aren't any.
b.) Include registration or alignment marks / hole pattern or frame of part to be imaged into screen but not to be printed (This may be defined by color and/or layer to show what will be printed and what is for alignment).
c.) Include a dimensional reference outside the image area (for scale check, not to be imaged).
d.) (this note applies to cad files) Separations by color or layer of any line widths to be defined at output other than the default line width. (A chart of color/layer to line widths must be supplied) PLEASE NOTE DEFAULT LINE WITDH FOR CAD FILES IS .010".
The Customer also should provide:
a.) A hard copy printout of file for visual comparison, may be faxed if it will be clean, clear & readable or supplied with your files on disk.
b:) A copy of our form faxed or supplied with your files on disk, please include any notes regarding output or printing information. When faxed and file is emailed, this will also serve as notice to us you have sent a file. PLEASE NOTE: Orders sent without this form may be delayed in quoting, production, and delivery
Fax No. 407-322-0097
Provide the file via one of the following:
By E-mail, send to files@sksigns.com
By modem, call ahead for transmission and phone number (please be ready to send when time is scheduled for transmission)
By disk, using either 3.5 floppy, 5.25 floppy, 100 mb zip disk, or compact disc
All files should be compressed, we highly recommend this for all data transmissions especially the internet. Zipping by programs like Winzip, Netzip, or Pkzip are preferred. Unzipped files can be unpredictable and it is the customers responsibility to properly supply the file. Please do not use mime conversion utilities, as they are unpredictable.
Special notes of interest
Cad files only: the default line width will be set to .010" for all colors/layers unless specified otherwise. (This will include all objects including those with a defined width such as poly lines).
Minimum line thickness for reproduction .005", smaller may not reproduce from film to screen properly.
Default screen 45 LPI, please specify otherwise for any grayscale / or gradient work.
PLEASE INCLUDE ALL FONTS (other then those supplied by the factory install of AutoCAD) or if possible covert all fonts or curves or graphics. Type 1 or True type fonts are preferred over cad fonts (best output results). Please supply the following files for the following types of fonts:
Type 1 fonts (usually found in a directory called psfonts and also a sub directory called psfonts\pfm\ ) There are 2 files required a *.pfm " & a *.pfb extensions.
True type fonts (usually found in a subdirectory of windows called fonts) There is 1 file required a *.ttf extension
Cad fonts (usually found in the main directory of AutoCAD or in a sub directory called fonts) There is 1 file required a *.shx entension
Cad files, please supply any externally referenced graphic files. Hatch fills are best when the spacing of the hatch is set to approx. 1/2 or 50% of the expected line width of output. i.e. if the object plotted is chosen to use the default line width of .010 then the hatch should be set to space at .005 (50% of the plotting line width). Note: Improperly hatched objects are the most common cause of error in the final output. Second is line thickness not being what customer is expecting because line width information was not provided properly. Third are files supplied without all necessary information such as font files or dimensional references. It is recommend that the file be sent to S & K at a 1:1 scale. Please purge all unnecessary data, fonts, references, views, and/or layers.
If a custom screen is to be made, it is mandatory to supply us a part for fabrication (please be sure to supply a completed part, as expected to be printed during production). Note: Most common error for a custom screen is an improperly supplied part (i.e. missing welds and/or hardware, deformed, and/or out of tolerance of drawing).S & K will not be held responsible for errors or problems due to customer suppling of deformed, incomplete or improperly supplied parts.
Please remember that you the customer are responsible for any improperly supplied files including how they are sent to S & K. Corrective work and/or modifications will be charged at a rate of 40.00 per hour (1/2 hr minimum) in addition to any film(s) that were quoted, if necessary. Modifications or changes may also delay production and require customer proof approval prior to production.
S & K will not replace any silk screen(s) and/or film(s) manufactured incorrectly due to customers own errors, omissions, or information incorrectly supplied to S & K. S & K also does not replace or repair any parts or printing damage due do improperly supplied files or information. It is the customers responsibility to review any screen or proof prior to use or our production (please see our complete set of terms and conditions posted in our shop, or a copy will be furnished to all who request so in writing.)
It is customers responsibility to be knowledgeable in the proper use of Cad or other types of computer software to create graphics, as S & K is not a teaching or consultation service. For persons who are unable to properly provide files we suggest for you to allow S & K to handle these issues for a fee.
We do not archive customer supplied files, supplied files are deleted after job has been delivered. We will archive customer supplied files for a fee, please contact S & K for price and information.
